NextFin News — Investment in China’s high-tech industries increased 5.2% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2026, accelerating 0.2 percentage points from the January-July period, National Bureau of Statistics spokesperson Wang Guanhua said.
The cumulative growth rate has quickened for three consecutive months. Within the sector, investment in electronic special materials manufacturing rose 8.5%, integrated circuit manufacturing gained 12.0%, and lithium-ion battery manufacturing climbed 20.6%, driven by AI-related demand and new-energy vehicle and storage needs.
Equipment purchase investment grew 9.3% over the same period, accelerating 0.3 percentage points and accounting for 19.5% of total investment, reflecting the continued effects of large-scale equipment renewal policies.
