The ETF's success will depend less on whether space grows, and more on whether the growth arrives faster or slower than what is already embedded in valuations.
The Counter-Thesis — Old Space Is Not Going Away
The strongest argument against Seraphim's pure-play bet is not that commercial space will fail. It is that the legacy primes will capture a larger share of the profits than the specialists.
The incumbents — the large aerospace and defence groups — bring three advantages the new entrants lack: balance sheets that can absorb multi-year development cycles, entrenched government contracting relationships that are difficult to dislodge, and supply-chain scale that keeps unit costs down. A satellite operator may own the constellation, but the primes build the buses, the ground systems and much of the launch infrastructure.
